Recently, a federal bill passed that will raise the smoking age from 18 to 21 in the United States of America. I've been seeing many people argue about who was responsible for this and fights have ensued about whether it was liberals or conservatives who support this bill. However, there is no fine line between who specifically supports the bill as there are many people from both sides of the political spectrum supporting/not supporting the bill's passage. There is a lot wrong with this meme. First of all, I would like to bring to light that the President, Mr. Donald J. Trump, recently made a Facebook post saying that he was in support of the new smoking age of 21. Mr. Donald Trump is a conservative Republican with many conservative Republican followers who also support this new smoking age. This fact shoots down the initial point of the meme. Furthermore, from anecdotal experience, I have never met a liberal who is in support of the age of smoking being raised to 21, and this includes myself.

I do not personally support smoking cigarettes, but I support safe vaping of tobacco. I will not judge anyone for smoking cigarettes, however. I only worry about the health risks of that person smoking cigarettes. Likewise, if people are old enough to fight for their country and to risk their lives and to vote for national policial leaders at the age of 18, then they should be legally allowed to make other adult decisions, such as the choice to drink or smoke. If 18 is too young, then at least make the legal age 21 for these decisions. Below is a snapshot of the Twitter post made by Mr. Trump with a link attached to his corresponding Facebook post.

Another point I would like to address about the post made by The Brian Nichols Show targeting liberals for supporting the raised smoking age is that it tries to justify the "invalidity" of liberals by stating that liberals will transition their 4-year-old son if they claim to be a girl. This point makes no sense and makes the original poster look ignorant for trying to state something so mundane. A vast majority of liberals do support transgender people because of the science backing up their existence and validity. The cerebral nuclei in the brains of males and females differ in size and someone with male genitalia can have a female brain and vice versa. Then there are people with physical genitalia of both the male and female sex. But the point is, liberals don't just transition their 4-year-old sons because they claim they are a girl. They respect their decisions, but to use such a fake argument to try to defile liberals does not make sense and does not support that false claim. Liberals have brains, and they are very open to the outside world. Society needs more people with open minds.
